The bathroom can be a dangerous place for the elderly or the disabled. According to the National Institute on Aging (NIA), over one in three seniors above age 65 fall each year. A majority (80 percent) of these falls happen in the bathroom.

Safety in the bathroom, therefore, is necessary — especially for seniors and the disabled with mobility problems.

We provide bathroom safety aids and equipment for the elderly to help them improve stability when they’re using the shower, bathtub, or toilet. Safety, comfort and peace of mind. It’s engineered into every product we install. You can be sure that when you select McIlwain Mobility for your project, we’re installing a product that not only meets the ADA’s exacting standards, but yours as well.

Bathroom safety covers a wide range of products. Make sure to outfit your bathroom to keep yourself as safe as possible. We will come out and discuss your needs to make sure you get the right equipment in order to fulfill your bathroom safety needs.

Shower & Tub Transfer System

Mobility Solutions- Shower Chair

Shower Buddy

The ShowerBuddy SB1 shower transfer system will turn your existing bathroom into an accessible bathroom that allows you to enjoy showering again without the excessive cost, delay and stress of a full bathroom remodel.

The ShowerBuddy SB1 alleviates heavy lifting and multiple transfers for toileting and showering.

This chair is separated into three sections; rolling base (shower chair), bridge and shower base. The rolling base rolls around the house like a wheelchair allowing patient to easily transfer and then roll right over a toilet (certain toilets). Once completed with toileting the rolling base can connect to the bridge and then onto the shower base allowing the chair to slide into the shower. Once inside the shower, the bridge disconnects and the shower base turns allowing the user to face the shower controls.

  • The Showerbuddy SB1 system is made of aluminum which will not rust when in contact with water.
  • Height adjustable on rolling base and shower base- allowing for use in a variety of shower stall sizes.
  • Rolls over some toilets- allowing for “no mess” alternative to commode usage.
  • Custom bridge sizes are available- allowing for use in a variety of bathroom sizes.

Perfectly paired with a CleanCut bath accessibility product

The Hudson is for those who want a more traditional tub as opposed to our Walk-in Tubs, but would like extra safety measures. Studies show that the majority of falls in the bathroom occur when entering or exiting the tub. Rane, once again, took over thirty years of providing accessible bathing options for the healthcare field and created this innovative residential bathtub with its additional safety measures of a built-in transfer ledge and lowered rim. As with all our Rane Tubs, you get to enjoy the beauty of the lines and luster of the finish while we take care of the safety.

The Superior Walk-in Tub by Rane offers the shortest of all our thresholds and is small enough to easily fit most bathrooms. One of the most sought-after features is the unique 34.75-inch-wide door with the lower part cut-away so it can swing outward over an existing toilet. This helps to utilize precious floor space to the maximum. The door is available to swing out to the left or to the right depending on your floor space.

One of the most unique features of the Superior is its innovative door which is cut-out to swing over existing toilets. The Rane RM3 Superior is an excellent choice for people with all degrees of limited mobility and their families.

If you or your loved one is a wheelchair user, then this might be your choice, yet it’s a perfect choice for all degrees of mobility. The wider 41-inch door gives plenty of room to navigate. The St. Croix even has a removable access panel for easy transfer and to accommodate a lift, if needed. The extra wide door swings out and is available to swing from the left or right depending on your specific floor plan. Settle in to soak up soothing water in the comfortable slightly reclined 20-inch seating that has been ergonomically designed with input from therapists. You can use the St. Croix in a built-in nook or as a freestanding tub with the use of extra cover panels.

This particular Rane Walk-in Tub was created for bariatric patients who may be entering the tub from a wheelchair or lift. The Mediterranean is Rane’s largest tub measuring 33.5 x 60” and offers the most spacious seating of 28” in width. The ergonomic design of the slightly-reclined seating was inspired by therapists who have used Rane Tubs over the past 30 years. Anyone with any type of mobility challenge will benefit from the Mediterranean, but the entire family will love bathing in this lovely upscale tub.

Barrier-Free Shower

Barrier free means easy access showers.

Instead of a raised threshold, the entry on a barrier-free shower is flush with the floor, creating a seamless surface that pleases the eye. More importantly, it’s convenient for everyone from kids to grandparents, including people with mobility challenges.

Barrier-Free showers are a classic example of Universal Design, which promotes spaces that are accessible for as many people as possible, regardless of age, size or physical ability. With no tub or threshold to climb over, a barrier-free shower is a game-changer for anyone with achy joints—or who uses a wheelchair.

Best Bath

Bestbath showers set the standard for safety, durability, accessibility and beauty. Commode

Bathroom Wheelchair

Clean shower commode

Secure, safe and simple for both users and carers.

Easy to fit and maneuver
Etac Clean shower commode chair is extremely easy to operate, thanks to the width of the push handle. The clever design can be seen throughout the entire chair. The upright handle ensures that Clean is a perfect fit, even over wall-mounted toilets, and the chair is open at the back to facilitate access.

Comfortable and practical foot support
The foot support on Clean shower commode chair is unique and can be pushed under the seat when not in use. The soft curved surface provides good comfort for the feet, which are also protected by the foot support’s side protection.

Commode

A three in one product with many smart functions

Etac Swift Commode is comfortable and discreet in the bedroom. The seat pad conceals a removable pan with a secure lid that locks automatically when lifted. Swift Commode can be set with a slight anterior tilt to facilitate standing up. The soft seat and back support paddings come as standard.

3 in 1
Swift Commode can also be used as a shower chair or as a freestanding toilet seat raiser. The soft ferrules give an excellent grip on all surfaces.

Easy cleaning
Swift Commode is designed with easy cleaning in mind. It has smooth surfaces, easyily detachable padding and is non-corroding. Swift Commode comes flat-packed and is easy to assemble and height-adjust, without using any tools.

Portable Shower

The FAWSsit™ Fold Away Wheelchair Shower stalls are manufactured by Care Giver Support Product, LLC for use by individuals with
disabilities who find that traditional bathing facilities are difficult or impossible to use, and who may not be able to do re-modeling of the
bathroom to allow for full accessibility.  Additional FAWSsit™ models are designed for emergency services or HazMat. All FAWSsit™
models are completely wheelchair accessible and portable, requiring NO tools or modifications to a site for use.

The FAWSsit™ portable showers are complete shower facilities. They can be set up anywhere there is access to warm water.  Oftentimes,
the kitchen is the preferred room to use as there is usually more room to move around the shower than there is in a bathroom.  A bedroom
or a laundry room, or any room that is within about 10 – 12 feet of a sink can also work.

FAWSsit portable showers all use the same basic priciple which allow one to have an accessable shower in any room in the
house.  The source of water for the shower unit is any standard sink faucet.  And, there is a pump which pulls the waste water
from the drain pan.  There is a hose attached to the pump unit which returns the waste water to the sink drain for disposal.  (See
Operations and Maintenance for tips on using and maintaining the FAWSsit™ portable shower.)

Swing Wash Basin
Support Wash Basin

SwingLine is a flexible and height adjustable washbasin that can significantly improve the independence of disabled people. The basin can rotate and swing 180 ̊ making it flexible and movable.

Wheelchair users find this washbasin to be perhaps the ideal solution for them. It is easy to adjust in height. There is also plenty of room under the basin for a wheelchair. It is easy to access from all sides, and the user or carer can move it to the side to create the largest possible turning area for a wheelchair.

The flexibility of the washbasin truly makes a difference because it enables the users to become more self-reliant.

The Swing Washbasin swings 180°, allowing more space for wheelchair users and making smaller rooms more accessible. Users will be able to use the washbasin and the toilet on their own, giving them greater independence.

SupportLine is an ergonomic washbasin you can adjust to the individual user’s needs. It is suitable for walking impaired because it can slide sideways and work as a support rail. This especially helps the user who need a grab to lean on to. Furthermore, the integrated handrails is a reliable support when the user needs to stand up or sit down at the washbasin. With many support points it is possible to reduce the risk of falling injuries.

The integrated hand grabs and the washbasin’s ability to slide sideways makes it safer for the user. Due to the safety it also makes it more comfortable for the user to use the bathroom. Above all it makes the user more self-reliant and independent.

The washbasin is available in different types and with manual or electric height adjustment. The combination of height adjustment, integrated handrails, and a cleaning-friendly design make it ideal for bathrooms used by multiple users with individual needs.

Raised Toilet Seat

An elevated toilet seat is a bathroom accessory that adds height and fits on just about all standard toilets, making it easier for folks with reduced mobility.

The new  PreserveTech™ Secure Lock Raised Toilet Seat features three locking points on the front and sides for added security and stability. This toilet seat adds an extra 5” of height to the toilet and includes padded armrests that can be adjusted or removed.  Most non-permanent raised toilet seats only offer one or two locking points of security resulting in instability when the end user places more weight on one side of the unit.  The seat fits on most elongated and standard toilets and installs without tools.

Free2Go
Free 2 Go

The disability friendly Toilet Support Arms are a great aid if a user needs support when using the toilet. People with reduced mobility can use the toilet arms to hold on to while sitting down and as an aid to get into standing position again.

The user has a firm grip from both standing and seated position because they are designed with an anti-slip surface. If you need a little extra support for getting up and sitting down, you can also mount the standing/sitting attachments.

The Toilet Support Arms can be adjusted in height and in different angels to suit the individual user’s needs. Furthermore, there are two different shapes and it can be customized to suit four different weight load. This makes it possible to find the optimum support arms for the individual user or environment.

Shower Bench

A shower seat is a smart idea regardless of your age and health. If you or a loved one has difficulty standing while bathing, a shower bench will provide stability and plenty of other benefits.

The shower seat requires no assembly, the chairs are easy to clean and maintain and they will not rust or corrode.

Powered Bath Lift

If you or your loved ones have expressed apprehension about getting into the tub, the powered Tub Lift may be your solution.

The lift is a battery operated bath chair that lowers and lifts the user in and out of the bathtub, reducing the strain on the user and preventing the risk of falls.

The stable frame and base plate ensure the user’s stability and safety while the padding and optimized dimensions ensure a comfortable bathing experience. The lift’s superior design allows for a backrest recline of up to 30° and lowers down into the tub with a minimum sitting position of 3.1in from the bottom. The side flaps move into and out of place to create a transfer surface allowing the user even more peace of mind.
